"Text" derives from the Latin word "texere";, meaning "to weave"- proving that there's a long history of associating threads with thoughts. Following that metaphor, you take individual thoughts and weave them into a text(ile). It's an interesting image- but personally, my conceptuality works less with the metaphor of weaving (threads crisscrossed to make fabric) and more with twining (threads wrapped around each other to make thicker threads.)

Under the cut, find a lot of etymological rumination, some explanation of how my keystone represents my worldview, and eventually my answer to [personal profile] gossamer_musings's prompt for us to suggest alternative names for new conceptfolk vocabulary.

Why hello there! My name is Heron, or Medusa, and I am the current manifestation of the Lady Baphomet Society! We are a 25 year old DID system, a hyena in the flesh, gorgon, harpy, and sea siren theriomythics, and we have recently realized through the wonderful and informative panels and essays put on by Julian, that we are both Jester and Beast keystones!

From our connection to hyenas (a notoriously giggly species, did you know a group of hyenas is called a cackle?), to our propensity to play bards in DnD, to our love of comedy, stupid jokes, dressing up in a silly fashion, playing the fool to make our loved ones laugh, the way our AuDHD symptoms manifest, even our flair for the dramatic and whimsical. We have always embodied the harmless trickster, the fool, the Jester, the strange and silly clever creature who endeavors to both confound and comfort those around it. Strange and sometimes incomprehensible to be fair, often playing much dumber than it appears, knowing more than others would expect. The Jester is chaos and art, clever and mischievous and unpredictable. To laugh and make a mockery of that which would crush hopes, especially at a time like this, we consider a sacred and serious duty. For as long as there is laughter, there is hope.

As for the archetype of the Beast, I think is, much more personal and complicated. Perhaps I'll elaborate in a later post, but to give a brief summary: something something deep dehumanization trauma, something something distaste for society and humans, something something rage and feeling safe and strong, you know how it goes. Though I find it important to note, I am not a mindless Beast, I am something old and wise and far removed, resentful of the humans who rejected it, but full of quiet wisdom and just a desire to protect my own and be left at peace.

I'm also questioning Storyteller as well but more on that later. I'll also answer the prompts in a later post, but I wanted to make a little introduction for myself! Thank you so very much for reading!!
